Doug has worked at Skogman Realty as a Commercial Broker since 2001.  In 2011, he received the President’s Appreciation Award from Skogman Realty.  He possesses the CCIM (Certified Commercial Investment Manager) certification and the SIOR (Society for Industrial Office Realtor) designation, as well as the Broker Associate designation.  He was Skogman Commercial's "Rookie of the Year" for 2002.  From 2015 to 2018, he was appointed Vice President of the Commercial division.  From 2016 to 2018, he was Chief Operations Officer for Skogman Realty.  In the past nineteen years, Mr. Laird has provided customers with assistance in excess of $280,000,000 in sales/leasing volume.

Doug has been involved in multi-family management and real estate since 1986.  He has excellent expertise in the commercial development of warehouse, retail, office, and all other general commercial property sales and leasing.  He has brokered many land development and commercial/industrial land sales.

From 1982 to 2000, he was in development/management roles at Cottage Grove Place and St. Luke’s Hospital, both in Cedar Rapids, and at John McDonald Hospital, in Monticello, Iowa. Mr. Laird has a BA in Business Administration from Iowa State University and an MHA in Hospital Administration from the University of Iowa.

Doug is a Director of the St. Luke’s Health Care Foundation Board and UnityPoint Board, a Director of Wellmark Health Plan of Iowa, Elder at Faith Bible Church, and member of the Finance Committee for the Cedar Rapids Area Association of Realtors. He has served on many other business and non-profit boards in the Cedar Rapids area over the past three decades. He served as Rotary District 5970 Foundation Chair from 2012-2014 and is Past-President of the Cedar Rapids Downtown Rotary Club.  He and his wife Sharon have been married 40-plus years, have four adult children, and twelve amazing grandchildren.
