Rob joined Upland Real Estate Group September 2017. As Director of Commercial Services he works on business development and brokerage in all areas of real estate—retail, office, medical, hospitality, industrial, land and development sourcing. Rob has over 25 years commercial real estate experience in property management, consulting, corporate services, development and brokerage. Throughout his career, Rob has leased, sold, consulted on and purchased more than 5 million square feet of office, medical, hotel, retail, industrial and multifamily residential projects. He has completed transactions with large/national office, medical and retail tenants such as Ecolab, University of Minnesota Physicians, Summit Orthopedics, US Bank, Town Hall Ventures, HealthEast/Fairview Medical/M Health, Robins Kaplan LLP, St. Paul Companies/Travelers, Lumber Liquidators, Trader Joe’s, McDonald’s, Dollar Tree, Foot Locker, Anytime Fitness, and many others. Rob is also no stranger working with smaller, local startups-tech firms, retail tenants, general office tenants and restaurants such as ILOS Videos, Rubric Law, Buttered Tin Restaurant, and Saint Dinette Restaurant. He works with several local and national developers on sourcing and assembling urban redevelopment properties. Most recently, as Vice President of Commercial at Sherman Associates, Rob was responsible for all office, industrial and retail leasing in the firm’s portfolio. Sherman Associates is a regional, urban developer. He also was accountable for sales and property management division activity. Additionally, he was charged with finding new opportunities for general acquisition, development or redevelopment—including historic, affordable and new market tax credit projects. Rob continues to assist Sherman Associates. He is currently overseeing several Sherman listings outsourced to Upland, as well as other Landlord listings. New listings are with local and national firms such as The Hamm Family (Saint Paul, MN), Seritage (NY), Nightingale (NY) and Harlem Irving/CA Ventures (Chicago). Prior to joining Sherman Associates, Rob began his career as a property manager and leasing agent with The Palmer Group of the Twin Cities, Ltd. (based in Chicago and Minneapolis), which was purchased by Frauenshuh Companies (Minneapolis). After successfully landing new leases and new management accounts, and with a nudge from his boss, he decided to pursue full-time leasing activity/new business development with Frauenshuh Companies and became Vice President of Marketing. After Frauenshuh, Rob worked for 10 years with United Properties’ leasing and property management division (recently Cushman & Wakefield division) in the Twin Cities, focusing on developing third-party building representation and tenant representation accounts in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Rob was a partner in four buildings in downtown Saint Paul. They were all successfully sold.
Rob is a licensed real estate broker in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Illinois with North/South Dakota pending. He has served on numerous committees and boards—both business and civic related. Rob is the immediate past Secretary/Treasurer for the St. Joseph’s School of Music in Saint Paul, MN, current Class Chair for Saint John’s University and 2014 Past President of the Minnesota Commercial Association of Realtors (MNCAR). He has served as a board member and/or committee chair for the local chapters of NAIOP, BOMA and CCIM. Rob was on the board of the Grand Avenue Business Association Saint Paul and was a publicly-elected board member of the Summit Hill Association (SHA) - District 16 Planning Council for the city of Saint Paul, Minnesota. He and his family have been residents of the Summit Hill/Crocus Hill neighborhood in Saint Paul for many years.
Rob earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from Saint John’s University (MN); where he currently serves as his Class Chair.
